BARRELLING

Barrelling is a key technique in the eyewear finishing process, known for its efficiency and consistent, high-quality results. At SMALL BATCH TOOLS, we provide specialised equipment for a three-stage barrelling approach using durable hardwood media for a flawless finish.

Stage 1 – Sanding. HARDWOOD PEGS, natural volcanic SANDING PUMICE and BINDING FLUID smooth out acetate frames, removing machining marks and significant scratches.

Stage 2 – Honing. HARDWOOD CUBES and HONING PASTE refine the surface left by sanding and prepare the frames for the final gloss.

Stage 3 – Polishing. HARDWOOD CUBES and POLISHING PASTE build a radiant gloss, enhancing the frames’ colours and visual appeal.

Matching quantities: pair 2 KG of media with 0,5 KG of paste for the SMALL SINGLE BARREL, and 4 KG of media with 1 KG of paste for the MEDIUM SINGLE BARREL and DOUBLE BARREL. Run each stage in its own barrel to prevent cross-contamination between abrasive, honing and polishing media.

Start with the SMALL SINGLE BARREL, or step up to the MEDIUM SINGLE BARREL and DOUBLE BARREL for higher-volume runs.
